【XSOverlay】How to Operate Your PC While Playing VR Games! A Guide from Installation to Usage (VRChat)

Have you ever wanted to operate your PC while playing VR games like “VRChat” or “Resonite”?

While tools like “Virtual Desktop” or “Quest Link” allow you to control your PC from within VR, they require switching between the VR game and your PC screen. This constant toggling can be inconvenient.

To solve this issue, we have “XSOverlay“!

With “XSOverlay”, you don’t need to switch between VR and your PC. Instead, it overlays your PC screen directly in VR. This means you can watch YouTube or browse X (formerly Twitter) while playing VR games!

How to Install XSOverlay

XSOverlay is available on Steam for $9.99.

Although it’s a paid tool, it’s highly recommended as it makes your VR experience much more comfortable!

After finished purchasing and downloading XSOverlay from Steam. Launch “SteamVR”.

In the “library”, click on “XSOverlay“.

Click “Launch” and start the “XSOverlay”.

Click “Launch XSOverlay in SteamVR Overlay” when prompted.

Now XSOverlay is ready to use!

However, having to manually launch it every time you use VR can be bothersome.

So, let’s register “XSOverlay” to start up automatically along with SteamVR..

Setting Up Auto-Startup:

Open SteamVR Settings → Startup/Shutdown → Choose Startup/Shutdown Apps.

Enable XSOverlay by toggling it to On.

Now XSOverlay will launch automatically whenever SteamVR starts!
